The American Mint is offering a solid 14k gold coin for $19.95... What is the gold content of this coin and is it a good deal?

11mm is pretty small and I wonder how thin???

Re: Gold coin for $19.95?
Calculated these mintings before:
58.5% gold * .5 grams /31.1034768 oz/gram * $953/oz = getting $10.51 of gold for $19.95. Sweet.:sarc: |
Re: Gold coin for $19.95?
Call and ask 'em.....ad says "11mm size".....but gives no other details.
By comparison, a 1/10 ounce US gold eagle is 16.5mm in diameter. Get the weight.....multiply by that 14/24 times spot price and see what you're ACTUALLY buying besides a load of hype....I'd guess you're getting maybe 10 bucks worth of gold for 19.95 + shipping/handling. |

Just snag a 14k earring from the wife unit and smack it flat with a hammer!
Instant 14k coin. You're welcome!:36_1_11: |
Re: Gold coin for $19.95?
I wouldn't get it simply because it does not have the weight and purity stamped on it.

Also read the fine print. It looks like they will be sending you more overpriced coins in the mail that you will have to return. |

I have heard this ad on t.v. they call it a solid gold clad proof. I laughed until I realized how many old ladies and novices will fall for it.
